Homemade Pav and Pizza: A Simple & Delicious Baking Experience
There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread filling your home. Whether it’s soft, buttery pav or a homemade pizza with a crispy, cheesy crust, baking from scratch is so satisfying—and easier than you think! Let’s make both with one simple dough.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp instant yeast
¾ cup lukewarm water
2 tbsp oil or melted butter
¼ cup milk
How to Make the Dough:
Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it turns frothy.
Mix & Knead: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and oil/butter, then mix into a dough. Knead for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rest in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
Making Pav:
Shape & Proof: Punch down the risen dough, divide it into equal portions, and roll into smooth balls. Arrange in a greased baking tray, leaving a little space between them. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Bake: Brush the tops with milk and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let them cool before serving.
Making Pizza:
Shape the Base: Roll out the dough into a circle (or any shape) about ¼ inch thick.
Pre-Bake: Place it on a greased baking tray and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 8-10 minutes until slightly firm.
Top & Bake Again: Spread pizza sauce, add toppings, and cover with cheese. Bake for another 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
